Equipment Down?
Commercial cooler or dish machine down? What to do in the first 30 minutes
A few calm steps right away can protect your product and help us diagnose the problem faster. Stick to safe checks and leave anything inside the equipment to your technician.
- 1
Check temperatures with a thermometer
Use a probe thermometer on the product and in the cabinet instead of trusting the display. Cold food should stay at 41°F or below, so this tells you how urgent things are.
- 2
Keep the doors closed
Every opening lets cold air out of a cooler or freezer. Keep doors shut while you figure out a plan, and post a note so staff know.
- 3
Move product if needed
If temperatures are climbing, move the most valuable or sensitive items to a working cooler or freezer. Follow your own food-safety policy for anything that has been out of temperature.
- 4
Check the breaker, gas and water supply
Look for a tripped breaker, a closed gas valve or a shut-off water line. These simple causes come up more often than people expect, and checking them is safe.
- 5
Note the model, serial and error code
Write down any error code on the display and take a photo of the data plate with the model and serial number. Sharing this when you call helps your technician arrive with a plan.
Health Inspection Ready
Commercial kitchen equipment and health inspections
Colorado's retail food rules are based on the FDA Food Code, and inspectors pay close attention to equipment that controls temperature and sanitation. These are the areas where a repair often makes the difference.
41°F
Cold holding at 41°F or below
Reach-ins, prep tables, undercounter units and walk-ins need to keep cold food at 41°F or below. A unit that drifts above that is worth a service call before an inspector finds it.
135°F
Hot holding at 135°F or above
Hot food must be held at 135°F or above. Ovens and other cooking equipment that struggle to hold temperature can put your holding plan at risk.
High-temp dish machine rinse
High-temp machines need a final sanitizing rinse of at least 180°F at the manifold, or 165°F for stationary-rack single-temperature machines. A weak booster heater is a common reason a machine falls short.
Chemical sanitizer concentration
Low-temp chemical machines must hold the concentration listed on the sanitizer label. Dish machines also need a data plate and working temperature gauges, and we can repair faulty gauges.
Clean ice machines
Ice is food, so ice machines must be cleaned. Regular cleaning and sanitizing keeps your machine in good shape and ready for inspection.

Preventive Maintenance
Preventive maintenance for commercial kitchen and laundry equipment
Most breakdowns build slowly. In general, dusty condenser coils make refrigeration work harder, and worn door gaskets let cold air escape, so both are worth regular attention on reach-ins, prep tables and walk-ins. Ice machines need periodic descaling and sanitizing, especially where mineral buildup is common, and dish machines need regular deliming to keep heating elements and spray arms working as designed.
On the laundry side, clearing lint and keeping dryer vents open helps dryers run efficiently and safely. Gas cooking and laundry equipment around 5,000 to 5,800 feet also needs correct high-altitude setup per the manufacturer. If you'd like us to look over your equipment while we're on site, just ask and we'll point out anything that may need attention soon.

What Our Customers Say
5.0Every review on Google is five stars.
“I highly recommend PointLine for appliance repair! I called them on a Sunday about a leaking washing machine, and they were incredibly responsive right from the start. They scheduled a same-day appointment, and Nick arrived ready to help. He was highly knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and fixed the faulty valve during that single visit. To top it off, Nick followed up a week later to ensure everything was still working perfectly. I will absolutely use them again for any future repair needs!”
Joe S.October 2026 · Google “My GE refrigerator stopped cooling shortly after we moved to Superior. We wanted to support a local company, so we called PointLine Appliance Repair. Nick came out the same day, fixed the fridge on the spot, and the price was very reasonable. Super friendly, professional, and easy to work with. We’ll definitely call them again if we ever need another appliance repaired. Highly recommend!”
Alyssa M.July 2026 · Google “This is a small owner-operated business, which is a big bonus as pricing is much more reasonable than using the chains or PE owned companies. Nick was accommodating, and installed a new evaporator fan in my GE Cafe fridge/freezer quickly and correctly. Highly recommend.”
